Hi Jake and congratulations on being the featured artist for Heartsurge's Exhibit C! First off, tell us something about yourself. |
| Jake Logsdon |
I'm Jake Logsdon, I was born in Tacoma Park, Maryland, though I've moved so much I don't really have a 'hometown', I'm 19 years old and my hobbies are music, 3D Abstract art and 2D art, poetry and mathematics. I made art for about 4 years back in the days before picking it back up about a year ago. |

That's a nice biography there Jake. How is the moving between homes influencing your life? Do you like it? |
| Jake Logsdon |
I didn't at all when I was younger but I like the change now, switches things up. |
| Heartsurge |
For this exhibition you have made three excellent submissions. Which one is your favourite and why? |
| Jake Logsdon |
Parthenon, it was my first venture into a different style, more 2D than 3D though I fused both elements together. I just like how it came out, felt fresh to me. To me, it's almost surrealist since it seems like a space backdrop with earth objects in it like butterflies and vines

As I've seen from your other two submissions, you like to make a whole atmosphere in your work with extensive background elements which all suggest a nature-esque theme. Is that correct? |
| Jake Logsdon |
Yeah, I try to go for at least an element of photorealism while contrasting it with the non-realism of the object or environment itself. |
| Heartsurge |
It does give the suggestion that the object itself is incredibly huge and massive. Really makes it come over as something immersive. |
| Heartsurge |
You can definitely see that back in both of them. How did you actually made Sequoia into the piece we can all see here? |
| Jake Logsdon |
I took a few different renders from Cinema 4D and smacked them in a canvas. Eventually it started looking like a tree so I added in clouds relatively small and a branch coming into the screen to establish scale and depth. To finish it up I worked in some natural elements like vines climbing and such. |
| Heartsurge |
And it turned out amazingly! For Exhibit C; what would be your overall favourite submission? |
| Jake Logsdon |
I can't really decide honestly. But if I had to, I'd choose the Puerto Rico photo from Finnian Macmanus. I also really like Excalibur from Christopher Pham. It's hard to choose though! |

It was really a pleasure to get a peek in the life of Jake Logsdon from North Carolina. Do you have any last words from yourself to both the rest of Heartsurge and of course the rest of the world? |
| Jake Logsdon |
Sincerely, I wasn't expecting to be a featured artist so thanks a lot! The group is really coming together now, which I'm really glad about. Let's just keep getting better! |
